It's pretty place. Wonderful atmosphere . The food was good . But still feel like over priced . Taste more American than Portuguese or Asian.

Sat at bar on a Monday and it was not crowded at all. Love the decor. Ordered all the food on the happy hour menu. For $12 each they were good but I don't know that I liked anything enough to pay the normal menu price for it. The pork belly gets lost in the dumplings and can only really taste the chicken. The chili oil that came with it was delicious though. The barbecue pork ribs were also good but we're a little cold and not very tender. Calamari were crispy and love the flavor, but the pieces were really small. Oysters for two dollars and happy hour were great no complaints. Truffle and mushroom croquettes were good but a little oilier than I expected. Love that they have so many cocktails and mocktails. Definitely have to do the cocktails with pandan as they are unique. Staff super nice. Very much gave me the vibe of if Sip and Guzzle had a baby with Employees Only. But the food here isn't quite as good in my opinion (only based on happy hour).

Macao is always a solid choice. The ambiance, food and cocktails are always sublime! Bartenders are well versed on their spirits and service is great. I dearly miss their sister bar Belle Reve, but glad to see Macao still alive and kicking. The ribs are always a solid choice and make sure to try the malasades for dessert!

After 3-years, I came to this place to see if it was just as good as it was before. And to no surprise. I would still suggest this place for a one-of-a-kind experience, maybe I'm biased because I'm Portuguese ;-) Try the house noodles, the skirt steak, the dumplings and greens - salad. All amazing flavors. Great for a first date - for all those looking for a bit more on the romantic side too. Dark and mysterious feel.

I don't give 5 stars lightly, so trust me when I say this place earned it for the food. The service was fantastic too, our water glasses were never empty and the space is nicely decorated, very cool interior (wooden with high ceilings and a balcony area, looks like a fancy trading post) complete with a massive bar. The food knocked our socks off. The only thing that was good but not great was the shrimp and scallion dumplings. Again, they were tasty and a decent size (4 per order, two big bites per dumpling), but compared to the other dishes they just didn't hold up since the entrees were so unbelievable amazing. As a table of two, we ordered the African chicken for one (you can order for one or two), the duck, the lobster noodles and a side of the sichuan eggplant. We really enjoyed the eggplant, but the 3 entrees were the stars. The chicken had tons of flavor and great texture. The slaw underneath the chicken was really tasty too. The duck was delicious and paired really well with the cucumber and mango. The lobster noodles are arguably the best lobster noodles we have had (and we are no strangers to lobster noodles). Absolutely perfectly cooked lobster (you get two small tails) coupled with a chili beurre blanc. It is just divine. For a regular eater, the lobster noodles would be a decent entree, but if you are hungry or like to eat, it is not sufficient on its own. It was a really incredible meal, so much so that we already have a reservation to go back next month. The prices are not cheap, but for the quality of the food it is worth the splurge.

Such a fun romantic place to go for a date night! Good: - The lobster noodles were amazing! I was blown away since the noodles were so tasty and chewy and also the sauce had so much flavor The lobster meat was tender and savory - The dessert was so good the donuts were flakey and chewy and adding on the condensed milk was nice - Very solid ambiance, dimly lit and private booths to eat Bad: - The place is pretty expensive! - Took a long time to flag down waiters and get them to take our orders - nice servers though Overall enjoyed the experience here and would come again! I liked he decorations mostly and the way it crafted an experience

I give this particular bar the highest possible score! Our bartender, Ratko, puts so much conscious effort into every drink he makes, and that effort makes a difference! My friends and I had some of the best, most perfectly balanced drinks we've ever had. Our recommendation: come on a Sunday or day when things are quiet, so you can get his full attention and aren't crowded out! I ordered the drunken dragon milk and the antiquado, then had a drink of Ratko's choosing and followup up that by asking him to Make his favorite drink (Spicy Mezcal Margarita) - and all were absolutely fantastic, and worthy of highest marks!

Macao Trading Company is a Chinese-Portuguese fusion restaurant set in an old gambling parlor in SoHo. We came for a midweek dinner and enjoyed a family-style meal. We started off with some stellar cocktails, calamari, shrimp and scallion dumplings, and char siu bbq baby back ribs. All the starters were amazing but the ribs will have us going back just to have them again. For entrees we had the African chicken for two smothered in creamy peanut curry sauce and piri piri as well as the incredible lobster noodles topped with lobster tail. Both entrees were fantastic and justified the somewhat eye watering price tags. For dessert we had the malasadas, mini Portuguese donuts, with dulce de leche and yuzu anglaise and chocolate mousse tart special. Macao Trading Company is a great special occasion date venue or place to sit at the bar and enjoy some phenomenal cocktails

Staff was a delight and they made my friends' and my last meal in New York a great experience! Love the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant also. The outside dining was also well decorated. Since we were visiting, we heard good things about this place. We had a party of 6 and made a reservation for 6 people in advance. I mistakenly reserved on the wrong day and called in to update it with no problems. We also were celebrating my bachelorette party and the drinks were definitely a hit for me. I didn't realize there's happy hour on a Sunday either but that's mainly for bar seating -- will remember for next time! Must get was the crispy fried fish, calamari, and truffle croquettes for us! Something about the fish in NY is just amazingggg.
